AC/DC is hardly a Kinks ripoff. They were clearly influenced by Slade and probably some of the Australian shit like Coloured Balls.
It's fucking insane to say that AC/DC was not very heavily influenced by the Kinks power chord singles and the Troggs too. The entire glam genre is already basically a retread of that stuff to begin with. We're talking about a 10 year timeline here. These were extremely popular songs of their time, they weren't crate-digging. It's like saying that the Kinks aren't indebted to "Louie, Louie" and American blues and rock in general.
For the record, "You Shook Me All Night" even prominently includes the lyric "You really got me", which I refuse to believe wasn't a very obvious nod, just the same way Marc Bolan cribs Chuck Berry's words.
This is not a knock on AC/DC, they did well, and ran with it, certainly carved out their own niche....must be vastly more popular than the Kinks.

If there's any 60s band that AC/DC was heavily influenced by it's probably The Easybeats, especially considering they counted Angus & Malcolm's older brother George Young as a main member, who later produced all of AC/DC's recordings (along with Easybeats bandmate Harry Vanda) from their start through 1978.
Plus there is a shit-ton of music that happened between "You Really Got Me" and the beginning of AC/DC, even in just Australia.

Exactly this. Lobby Loyde was in a handful of popular Australian bands that all likely left a mark on AC/DC and others.
Not meaning to harp on it, I just don't really hear it outside of guitar distortion.

I have A LOT of favorites but Bunny's 'A Dream" just sends me. Such a well-crafted li'l ditty. Will also play "Don't Leave Me Now" from Blackstreet which samples it heavily. Nice harmonies in that one.

I don't see much in common between The Kinks and AC/DC. Other than that they've both had great songs and musicianship and will continue to stand the test of time.
The Easybeats, though they share a familial connection with AC/DC, are also of a different tack. "Friday on My Mind" rules of course.
