Curious how the KSM44MP compares to a Heiserman T19 - I think the Hesierman is $100 less on paper at least and is by all accounts an incredible mic. No shortage of sick options in the $1K condenser world I guess.

Yeah I recently, built one of these too and it stacks up well to the $1k range

I have the Type 19 and it’s a crazy good instrument mic, especially for any heavy source like amps or low drums. It’s not something I would find useful in a stereo pair, but I could use multiples just to have out on different sources, drums, etc. i say that because the only drawback is the price, though if I were recording full bands and had 4 of them they would all get used regularly.

Also the Type 19 isn’t great on my voice or acoustic and I usually like tube mics on both of those things. I had an Advanced Audio 47 at the same time and sold the AA cuz it kind of paled in comparison, but the AA really was better on my voice than the Type 19. Still not as good as a AT4060 though.

I say all that because if the KSM44MP does better with voice and acoustic guitar it could be more useful than the Type 19 depending on what someone wanted out of it… I do expect $1k mics to do well on vocals. Wish I could try the new Type 21, but at $1500 that’s too much to even consider.

I wonder if the Chandler Type L is cool - I’m such a C38b fan that anything that gets advertised as a ribbon-like condenser perks my ears up a little.

I just got the email that they're shipping in 3 weeks. Son, I am excite!

Excited about the Gamechanger, too. It's the sort of pedal that seems smarter than you.

Anyone else see Fairfield Circuitry's announcement of the Placeholder? It's a reverb that "analogue emulation of a digital reverb algorithm using bucket brigade devices". The description is interesting, the video makes it even more appealing. I like how they approach describing the Size and Ratio controls as changing the shape of a room's dimensions. It's really helpful in thinking of the sound you'll get when adjusting them.

But the $620 (CAN)/ $447 (USD) price makes it less of an impulse purchase...even if you can never have enough reverbs

It doesn't sound $620 (CAN)/ $447 (USD) good from the video. Not too far off a Belkin Brick reverb and not as good as a spring. Not for me at that price.

Despite being well-done and nice to watch, the video also doesn't do a great job of showcasing all its settings (imo).

I was all set to buy that Fairfield reverb yesterday but the price was prohibitive.

The cinematography and abstract krauty music do a good job making the pedal feel very exciting. But then I couldn't help but want to hear its medium setting on a folky arpeggio. It's like they should have cut from this David Fincher piece to the fluorescent youtube studio of the guy who demos pedals for Reverb. Like, "Can it Clapton? Can it Hendrix?" I must know.
