My frankly "too much" stereo setup of a couple of smallish tube amps is overkill for the bedroom, but I do love me some swirl. I'm seriously considering a sell-off/clear-out and bagging one of the smaller Roland Jazz Chorus amps, the JC-40 or JC-22, as an alternative.

Any good/bad experiences with either the 40 or 22?

If you're never going to play guitar in a band again, but love the complicated set up, why not set yourself up to do it in the box instead of tiny amps?

Would this JC situation be with or without a pedalboard? I has a JC77 for a while and it was nice to just plug in and get that sound, but it wasn’t very versatile

I'll be massively downscaling my pedalboard too...mostly because I'm tired of digital menu diving and the like. I do like the sound of an in-the-flesh amp with speakers (however small) moving some air, even if it's at relatively low volume. I also spend enough of my daily life at a computer, that pfaffing around with modelling and IRs and the like is not something I want to get into.

A small pedalboard, yes. I'm leaning cleaner these days, too...so if I can get a modest driven sound from one pedal, that'll do me.

Understandable. Have you considered a hybrid approach? A simple Amp pedal with real pedals?

Fussing with IRs... I can understand. Options fatigue is real. I have two that I use: a 2x12 for guitars and a fridge for bass. I also figured out my favorite amps for guitar and bass and just stick with those. Essentially two variations on a JMT.

Everything is on my pedalboard, I use headphones at home and a power amp at practice. When recording, I've switched to using all software. It's a little more flexible and you can do stereo effects.
