I never put mine inside. And always use a pop filter or bozo nose if I use it at all. I killed one once in a kick.penningtron wrote: Mon Mar 18, 2024 4:23 pm Be careful with m88s on kicks. They do have their physical limits. (probably fine for your padded down, open res head type music)

842FWIW if anyone is M88 curious but doesn't want to drop the coin on precision (*deutsche) engineering, the sE V7X is a very very very very very similar sounding mic, and costs like $90.

If I lived anywhere nearby, I'd be hightailing it over to grab this little guy. Excellent sounding mixer, solid pres, good EQ, modular channels. I've seen a few people upgrade them to an API/CAPI sum bus.

844Here's a Garnet mixer with a very colorful description.

846I copped it. Went in to check it out and it turned out it just came back from being serviced. Can't do much better for the price.mdc wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2024 7:57 am https://www.musicgoround.com/product/gr ... 802a-mixer

847Hell yeah!
IIRC, the guy who designed the GAR discrete opamps has one and did some extensive mods to it. I saw a few other folks had copied some of what he did, including the CAPI sum bus swap.

849Thanks for the link! I'll probably end up using it as-is though...I've been using a Sony M16 for almost 20 years, so API territory isn't really necessary for me. Love the direct outs on every channel and the pres supposedly have over 80db of gain! Thanks again for posting. This was like 15 minutes from me and I know the guy that did all the work on it.
