Re: Streaming Netflix/Hulu/etc. - what's good lately?
851The Paul Reubens doc on HBO was really, really astounding and deeeeeply fucking sad. I broke it up over two days, and glad I did, too.
I watched the first one last night. What a charming, delightful, and funny man.Isaac wrote: Sat May 24, 2025 1:08 pm The Paul Reubens doc on HBO was really, really astounding and deeeeeply fucking sad. I broke it up over two days, and glad I did, too.
90% exactly how my wife and I are watching it, too. She's probably a bit more invested because of Tom Hardy haha!andyman wrote: Mon May 26, 2025 3:35 pm Mobland, the Guy Ritchie crime show with Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren is fucking diabolical. Dogshit. Filled with terrible writing and the absolute hammiest acting of all time.
We're hate-watching it to the end.
We watched the first one last night as well. Pee-Wee is my wife's guy, through and through. Big Adventure is her favorite movie and she owned all of the Playhouse series and The Pee-Wee Herman Show on VHS a million years ago, so she is pretty into this. It's a lot of fun, seeing how it all came together in the first episode.Dave N. wrote:I watched the first one last night. Okay. Been on board through the most of the second season (first season was GREAT), but this season is really flat. Agreed, Jean Smart is still the gem of the show, but it is super slap-sticky in a way that is goofy more than uncomfortable.andyman wrote: Wed May 28, 2025 4:36 am Almost done with the new season of Hacks. My housemate started watching it and I couldn't help being absorbed by it.
They've still got it, which is really something for a comedy show 4 seasons in. The deadpan humour gets genuine laughs from me, but it also manages to evoke real pathos.
Jean Smart is one of the best actresses working today.
