Bigsbys can be fun if you mount one or more strings in reverse so they bend up when the rest bend down, but it's an otherwise primitive design.
I can see how Bigsbys might be "primitive" but who cares about how old a design something is? It either does what you want or it doesn't. Gibson absolutely innovated with robotic tuners - they made existing tuning machines look primitive, but primitive kinda won out. Also the Floyd Rose will be 50 next year.
I wasn't referring to its age, just its design which has limits to its precision. They're fine, but if someone wanted what a Floyd does then it's not gonna deliver.

100%!
I'm still reeling from doing the maths about Floyds being 50 years old.
Everything is old now. Apart from all the new stuff. Sigh.

Google sez Floyd isn't quite 50 yet, first production models were 1982, prototypes going back to 1977. Funny to imagine Mr Rose in his workshop, crafting the ultimate shredder wiggle stick whilst listening to Never Mind The Bollocks.

I have zero idea if this is right, but this
https://guitar.com/features/history/a-b ... loyd-rose/ was what led me to my "nearly 50 years old" claim.
"The locking nut worked well enough to convince his parents to loan him $600 to have a machine shop develop what Rose considers to be the first real model of the Floyd Rose Locking Tremolo System in 1976 from these initial prototypes."

Just got around to reading this, and I think Roger Linn did a great job of navigating the complexities of the issue in a short space. Plus, his attitude and decisions are admirable. I've never met him, though I know he's pals with my former boss. Now I wanna hang with him

felt exactly the same way. "Classy" comes to mind.

I believe the original drum machine was George Michael's choice for Wham!

Is there any reason why I can't use this as a guitar head to power a 100W 8 Ohm 2x12?

Its a 200W amp, so you run the risk of blowing the speakers if you turn it up.

Some Class D amps list that the wattage drops by roughly half when you jump to 8ohms and even more at 16. I think the assumption is that this one works the same way.
But with any SS amp you shouldn't really push its volume limits. If you need to crank it well past noon then it's not the right amp.
