Yes, and I happen to be the biggest Sox fan on the planet. I just don't think Ozzie is infallible.

And by the way, you must not have gotten the memo from the national news media coverage - the only reason the Sox are 9-1 in the playoffs is because the umpires have handed them everything. They haven't actually earned anything.

I'm afraid I can't abide by any praise of Mr. Foulke's talents that is not phrased in the past tense. I think he's at the end of the line. One injury upon another has taken his velocity down to Charlie Hough levels.

Why did Ozzie go with Politte instead of Hermanson in Game 2? I am aware of the outcome but Hermanson was the closer 3/4 of the season. Post-Shingo of course.

Lane homer mistake call only received 1/10th of the oxygen depletion for Sox calls.

My guess would be that Politte throws harder and consistently at knee-level. In those weather conditions, that's a killer.

Hermanson may not even be available. He hasn't pitched in about 4 weeks and his back was apparently so bad that he couldn't even play catch at the end of the regular season.

djimbe, you've got issues it appears. you gotta love when a team goes to the world series for the first time in ages, how all the newbie bandwagon baseball fans come out in force. ha!

this statement, of course, misses the fact that I've been following the Sox since the late '70's. Not that you could possibly know that, or were even alive to remember things like the Carter years. It also misses the fact that you seem to be advocating for the Astros not based on any long term interest you've had in that particular team, but simply becasue they are NOT the White Sox. I can't think of a better definition of "bandwagon jumper" than that...

I couldn't care less whether the Astros play with their roof open, closed, or in another county. My statement, however stands:

If the Astros were really this fabulous team that you make them out to be, they could beat the Sox in any weather, in any stadium, with the top up down or sideways. Hasn't happened yet.

You got that, Walter?

my bad djimbe. apologies. i think you know the type of fan i’m talking about. the one whose hometown team finally goes to the world series and you sit next to them at the bar and overhear them say things like:

“come on! we need a first down!”

“there it goes! goal!!!!”

priceless.
