Stop picking on Atlanta. All of you.

What do you know? You live in Johnson City.

I don't see what that has to do with general knowledge.

I like my home. I don't have to worry about shit like getting mugged on my way to the grocery store or two hours in traffic every day.

I'm not always surrounded by people on the streets and if I want to go kayaking/fishing/swimming at blue hole/biking/hiking/take a lady to a mountaintop then all I have to do is drive for twenty minutes.

What really makes a good city? Restaurants? Bars? Skate Parks? Malls? Well, we have those. I will admit that our skate park is shitty. So are most bars and restaurants.

If I want to see live music-- Usually bands play within and hour (Asheville) or an hour and thirty minutes (knoxville). If something is worth my time then I will go.

I'm not looking for "night life". Which is usually what people talk about as a proponent of big-city life.

The only thing that I can think of that I am missing out on is museums (and how often would I go to one anyway). Museums change exhibits about every six months (bodyworlds sounds neat).

No baseball, either. We do have some rookie league teams in the area that are fun to watch. Though I have been to maybe fifty games and have only seen about ten home-runs.

What am I missing? I'll take Johnson City over any big city any day. Then again; "what do I know?"

I must admit that I'd have to agree with anyone dishing out shit to Atlanta. Not literally dishing out shit though.

I don't mean to interupt the Atlanta-sucks-no-it-doesn't-it-rules conversation, but come on, this is huge! Am I the only one who's excited?

The mrs bought tickets for the SY thing so I guess I'm going...I must admit I'm not sure how excited I am see all of Daydream Nation, they've been playing "Teenage Riot" for the past few yrs and when they first started playing it again it was awesome, but now its sounding sort of played out. And that whole record for the most part, isn't quite the mind bender these days that once was. At least, for me it's not.

I'd rather hear all of Sister.

If the other two acts are PE and Slint, count me in w/ a big old "meh".

I'm not excited. I wish I could be. Sonic youth were very important in molding me, I guess. I just cant't deal with the idea of a band performing their "classic" albums exactly. Especially when said album came out almost two decades ago. It was great and is still one of my favorite sonic youth albums but the whole idea just seems forced. I think it's fine if a band is touring on new material. Way too much fuss over this. "Oh great-- I finally get to hear "providence" live. Who wants to? I like that stuff but I'm trying to face forward.

That being said-- If they were doing this in Atlanta...

I'm sorry but Daydream Nation has exactally 3 good songs on it
I'd rather they play pretty much any other record they've done besides NYC ghosts and bullshit, which is even worse

I still think this rules.

Daydream is not my favorite record either but I was exactly 9.5 years old when it came out and the only songs from it that I've heard live are Teenage Riot and Eric's Trip and yeah, I can think of other SY records I'd rather see them do, but fuck you guys this is awesome and you know it.

I'm kind of curious as to how they're gonna play "Providence."
