I'm in agreement with those mentioning Peter Criss. He is terrible.
Also, Ricki Rockett from Poison- Rick Allen only has one arm and is still better than that guy. I once heard Ricki Rockett play a seven-minute drum solo, which amounted to seven of the most embarrassing and uncomfortable minutes of my life. Oh yes, I have seen Poison live.
Really, most hair rock drummers were really terrible. Tommy Lee is a barely competant drummer, and is still among the best of that batch.
About Ringo- for years I thought he was really mediocre or just plain bad. We used to joke that his drumming was the 'real reason' the Beatles stopped touring. My opinion on him totally changed after seeing all the live footage from the Beatles Anthology videos. I think he's very good.

The guy from Sonic Youth... very boring.
The guy from MBV for not having the balls to demand a decent drum sound in Loveless, serious great album, fucking awful drum recording.

It's all samples on 'Loveless'
FIRST!<joke stolen from Ben Adrian>edit: "FIRST" my ass

seems like there's no point in mentioning that the drummer from Godsmack was worse than bad. That whole band was pretty godawful, but when that first single hit the radio I was astonished at how out of time the drums were.
Bad drummers from bands who don't suck... that's an interesting challenge, because good drummer = good band, usually, and the inverse holds true as well.
I keep thinking "Oh, I didn't like that guy... well... or the rest of that band, either..." (pavement)
You'd think that the pickiest drummer on the forum could come up with a couple of bad drummers in good bands, but I am drawing a blank.

I have a hypothesis that gated reverb was only invented to make shitty drummers sound like they could play. Hence, '80's hair-metal drummers.

I agree that Micky Hart is just a pointlessly bad drummer, but posting that picture of him with his horribly malformed child was just beyond the pale.

I think the drums on this song are great.
I'm not willing to explore Tommy Lee's oeuvre beyond that, but he got that one right.

nobody mentioned pavement yet? their drummers are incredible incompetent. i love how they play. the drums on AT&T are ridiculously clumsy. i think it was simmo that mentioned before the drum fill to 'in the mouth a desert' like one of the best things ever. it's so pathetic it's awesome.
damon from galaxie 500 was very bad i guess.. at least in 'strange' from 'on fire', he's never on time with the song. and it sounds incredible too.
i kind of like bad drummers. i'm a bad drummer.
