Stanhope is not a hack for several reasons.

1) He keeps changing and updating his material. I saw him recently, and he only did one joke from his Showtime special that he did last year. He's constantly getting better and improving; the stuff he did when I saw him was his best yet.

2) He (at least he seems like it) comes off as honest and being himself on stage. Its like you sat down and had a beer with him. You can't say that about many comedians; so many try to hide behind a persona and its usually not that funny or it gets old fast.

3) Seems like a cool dude.

4) Hes funny.
