eric clapton - i shot the sheriff

the definitive bad cover.

then again, the dude has an entire album of unlistenable robert johnson covers.

also, although i like bowie, i must say his cover of "across the universe" sucks

i also like soundgarden but dont like their cover of "come together"

I know pigs can't fly, so why does the singer have wings?

Chrome is one of my favorite bands of all time, but I think The Jesus Lizard's little medley of 2 of their best songs isn't silly at all and is in my opinion a great cover. I don't think they are "goofing" on the songs and I don't think it's some kinda sacrilege. Jeez...

Same here man. Chrome is probably my favorite band. Probably the unsung
heros of modern rock.

Maybe, if you are reved up to cover a Chrome song, cover one. Don't just
take the easy licks and smash them together. Maybe sit down and pick a
song, and try to give it some measure of dignity by attempting to replicate
it. That would be a fitting tribute/cover to a band who's NEVER had a song
covered the way the songs are written.

Covering a Chrome song itself is a massive undertaking, and rather then
butchering a few in a freaking medley, perhaps cover one well. I rather like
The Jesus Lizard, but I was confounded at thier lazyness. They could cover
a Chrome song as it was recorded - it's a mystery why they didn't.

You ask: why cover it as it was recorded? Because there is no way anyone
could make something like Magnetic Dwarf Reptile or SS Cygni any more
interesting then they are.

The Jesus Lizard didn't pay homage or make Chrome's stuff more interesting,
IMO.

I don't think I handled that one too well.

p.s.: it was CRAP.

The NO jazz version of "Vertigo"... Man, I hate NO-style music. But somehow it's more satisfying than the original.

Gordon's cover is far superior to the original, mainly because it isn't a rap.

This "Compton" talk reminds me of some bluegrass band from Denton TX that covered "Gin and Juice." I can't remember their name for the life of me because I'm trying to. A little help, please?
