A friend of mine, Scott Sendra, had a band called Down, and after they'd been together for several years and released a few seven-inches, Phil Anselmo (the lead singer from Pantera) put together a side project called Down and released an album. Scott had a lawyer pal who was going to help him sue Anselmo for a whole bunch of money, but Anselmo's people offered a settlement that was enough for Scott and his band to record an album, so they said to hell with it, took the check and became Down MF.

It's better to call yourselves " Ringo Starr". Everyone forgets he was a beatle, even Ringo.

a guy at work plays in a melodic punk rock ala Bad Religion/ Millencollin call The Fall. I told him that there was a band called like that. What a dumbass.

I would be willing to bet one dollar that it was Mayfair:

Mayfair wrote:Of course the word independent doesn't ever really apply as the smaller labels we all love and buy record from are quite dependent on outside distribution, collage radio play, booking agents, press relations, etc.

We do have great collage radio (WLUW, WHPK, WNUR, ....) and I listen to WBEZ and WFMT all day long but WFMU is a totally other animal.

Connor, I concur. Yummy big cracker snack... I often ate them dry in collage.... I was too impatient to wait for soup.

Mayfair wrote:I loved the PeeWee show when I was in collage and my kids love it now. We got the DVD set for them and they love it. It is fun to have things for them that are enjoyable to me... the Incredibles is like that as well.

Ever see the Cheech and Chong movie he was in...with Stacey Keach I think.

Mayfair wrote:Again, these are all people that in some way can work for you (putting up posters, trying to get press on your show, helping with collage radio play, etc) so treat them with respect and make them want to do a good job for you.

Mayfair wrote:John Cage spoke at my collage in like '88 or so. I got him to sign my guitar "Johnny Guitar Cage". He was happy to do it, the silly man.

etc., etc., etc.

(I'm not trying to be a dick, I think it's endearing.

Salut! Mark.

Ha! Kerble, you are an evil, evil man... and I was just counting the seconds until someone here took that bait from Newberry. I'm a documented horrible speller. GO ART SCHOOL!

I'm surprised The Walkmen have got away with being called 'The Walkmen' for as long as they have.

Not quite as surprised as I am with the fact they got away with releasing that re-recording of Harry Nilsson's 'Pussy Cats' though.
