Recently I have enjoyed a sixer of some kind of Beer aged in Bourbon barrels made by Tyrena (not sure of spelling), Riverfront Brewery/rest in West Bend makes a tasty IPA.

I remember having a party out at the house one time with two barrels, one of Lite, the other of Sprecher Amber, knowing that most of the crowd would drink the Lite. It was late fall and the tapper was in good order, I had the next 3 days off and a perfectly good half 1/4 barrel to myself, just had to make sure I kept pressure on the barrel. This was the best beer drinking experience of my life, lawn chair, barrel, vaca.

Too true. What a wonderfully mellow (did I use that word?) drunk from Fin du Monde. I also miss Dogwood Pale Ale (RIP).

Duck-Rabbit's Rabid Duck Russian Imperial Stout. From Farmville, NC. Be careful. It will make you crazy. Also made during and for the cold times.

I like Red Hook's ESB. Their IPA is pretty OK, too.

And I've really started liking the Dogfish Head 60min and the Heavy Seas Loose Cannon from Clipper City.

The Brown Ale is great. I also enjoy the Chocolate Stout.

There is still an open invitation for anybody heading to/through Northern Colorado to take the Fort Collins brewery tour with me (New Belgium/O'Dell's). On a weekend, of course.

Damn fine store. Last week they had a Bulliet bourbon tasting with Tom Bulliet signing bottles. So good.

As for beer they used to carry Stoudt's American Style Pale Ale which is extremely yummy.

Thanks for the heads-up on this place hench and H-GM. I was previously unaware.

Chicago beer fiends would do well, IMO, to check out the annual tasting at Delilah's. If I remember, I'll scan and post this year's list for your reference.

Fuller's London Porter

evan, you're making me pine for home. I've had the Rabid Duck and it's excellent.

Highland is another excellent North Carolina brewery that makes a damn good traditional pale ale and a pretty good malty amber.

Don't know how I've missed that Pyramid winter brew.

I don't recall any mention of Great Lakes.

I love their Edmund Fitzgerald (porter) and Nosferatu (red ale).

Has a banana-like nose. It will also get you straight-up plastered.

Will rock your face off. A rare Trappist on tap and the only from outside of Belgium. Small Bar here in Chicago has it.

And yes, Fuller's London Porter is Godlike. Best Porter in the world.
