HOLY FUCK POLVO REUNITES FOR ATP

Wow.

Does Polvo mean "internet flame war" in some other language for music nerds/virgins?

This is insane.

I love Polvo and was very, very happy when this came about. I'll be in Ireland next summer (if my geography is correct, it'll be a short shot to Camber Sands) and look forward to seeing this show.

Obviously any opinions are valid--it's just that the virtriol amped up when this came about. Was this a devisive band in 1996? Maybe in Chicago. Were they dicks to people? I feel like I'm missing a subtext here.

It is a little strange that this particular band elicits such an unpleasant mood in all those who speak it's name on our beloved forum. Even those who proclaim an undying love for said band and their music seem to become a tad bit unhinged, wild eyed and dare I say, almost feral when defending them... as if the music has them under some sort of mind warping spell. I see members, usually as steady and reliable as the tides reduced to ranting, frothing lunatics at the mere notion someone else may not share their deep connection (obsession?) with this group. It's a very peculiar phenomenon indeed, very troubling to us who are not trapped in the hypnotic web of Polvo or their (to some of us) dull and utterly flaccid music.
It seems as though nearly every other band, and subject, for that matter is able to withstand some good natured ribbing and/or charged debate... not this Polvo, straight to the ugly with this one.
I am thinking it over today and maybe it's not strange at all. When I hear Polvo I hear no joy whatsoever. I actually become uncomfortable when it is playing. Sad almost. Maybe prolonged exposure to such sounds can effect you, alter your very being....make you turn into something you weren't before.....just like years and years of constant gangster rap blaring into the ear holes of an impressionable young kid can conceivably turn an otherwise normal, respectful child into a jive talking violent women hating criminal....I propose that maybe, just maybe.....forcing years and years of bland, soulless, uninspired, grating Polvo into your subconscious can turn you into a fuddy dud.
Just a theory.

"In a better PRF"

Scene:

A: Polvo re-unites for ATP. Nice!
B: I'm not a big fan of their stuff.
A: That's cool, but I'm PUMPED!
B: I hope you get to to gig, man. Good for you.

6 fucking pages. C'mon.

See how I stayed out of the Fripp/Summers and Cocorosie threads? It doesn't apply to me. I don't need to ruffle feathers as I respect other folks musical opinions. I haven't experienced what others have, like being touched inappropriately by an "uncle", etc.

I keep looking here thinking that there is some news regarding Polvo playing ATP. I keep being proved wrong. Take it to C/NC.

Night.

Yes, lately I practice this thought as well. I've fought myself to stay out of the Cocorosie thread. I can't believe that it's still going.

Oh, while I'm here.... I bought Cor-Crane in High School, listened to this song for a while,

and left it at that.

However, I hope that all you who really go nuts over Polvo get a chance to see them live again.

ah, dear Marsupio, you should not write about music on this forum.
sex, drugs, gangsta rap, whatever: just don't write about the music!
reading posts about your "taste" in music makes my eyes hurt.
you're hurting me, capisci? stop it, you testicle!
