Is anyone using Bandcamp Pro to send out private streams for labels? It seems less than ideal in terms of message customization options. I also know some labels specifically ask for a download option, which they don't have.

Well, we need to discuss this here:Bandcamp announces vinyl-on-demand campaignsI have SO MANY QUESTIONS, but am happy to kick back and see how this develops. Obviously this is a company that gives a shit and i have a hard time believing they wouldn't announce this without taking pains to do it right.

I hope it goes well. Bandcamp s commitment to DIY music production is admirable. They ve enabled easy worldwide distribution for millions of musicians and have now created an easy and practical way for those same musicians to put out small run vinyl releases, also distributed to a potentially worldwide audience. People run labels entirely through it too. Digital and physical releases, a website, and a shopping cart for other merch items like tee shirts and $60 hoodies all in one place and easy to set up. Fantastic work, Bandcamp. I am a fan.

I don't see them getting around the inevitability of needing to sell at least 200 to make it worthwhile. But bandcamp has much bigger artists than any of us so this is still a neat idea.

I want some for touring, promo, local consignment, etc. I hope there is a way to set a dollar amount threshold and just buy the rest at cost.

I hope they're open to suggestions/criticisms before launching a whole big deal. Any competition in this arena is welcomed, I feel.

I learned the other day, from this disconcerting interview*, that the higher purpose behind Bandcamp's "Verify you're not a robot" tests is to train the A.I. for self-driving cars.Always wondered why almost all of those images are of cars, storefronts, busses, traffic lights, crosswalks, etc.Bandcamp's a good site, but around half of the people who've bought music from me on there haven't had user accounts displaying their "collections" and so on. Older generations don't seem to care about that much at all. More than a few people I've known can barely be arsed to log into the site in the first place.*Not a Harris fan, by the by, but that's worth listening to.
