Loved the crap out of Lake Mungo and The Innkeepers. I kept thinking about The Inkeepers while watching The Conjuring this past weekend. I thought the problems I had with The Conjuring (besides the tacit christianity that nobody seemed to ask about. Like, what if a Jewish family had moved into the house?), was that it really blew it's load early. The jump scares with the thing in the bedroom were pretty good, but it meant that by the end, you could see everything coming a mile away. But then, I thought Insidious was a laughable mess.

No torture scenes, monsters, witches or the like; just a great, sad, and ultimately terrifying ghost story. Excellent, low-budget creature-feature. The acting is capable and the atmosphere grows creepier by the minute. Not supernatural, but I'm really looking forward to seeing it in a few weeks.I've actually been a bit slacking with looking for undiscovered gems. To be sure, they are out there. It just takes a bit of wading through the bs. I actually wasted my time the other night with re-watching Cabin in the Woods. That movie works best only one time. Repeated viewings are not necessary.

Slash made a Top Ten list but couldn't help inserting how his upcoming foray into horror is heavily indebted to a submission. And to think you people have a problem with Rob Zombie. In case you can't watch:Drag Me To HellThe StrangersThe RingRosemary's BabyThe Abominable Dr. PhibesAlienDraculaNight Of The Living DeadThe ExorcistThe OmenDecent list, except The Ring is crap and though Drag Me To Hell isn't crap it doesn't belong in a Top Ten Horror Movie list. Eh, subjectivity.

I really wish they'd stop doing that.https://youtu.be/1tzFRIQfwXgWhy do they make the trailer just a 2 minute edit of the essentials of the movie, minus the end?I don't just mean this movie, but I think every trailer for the last 20 years has done this, especially with horror.I hope that there's enough depth to the film that it has some surprises even with all this exposition. It seems so obviously spelled out that I think our first impressions may be intentionally misled. I hope. I do believe in Jordan Peele. I do believe in Jordan Peele. I do believe in Jordan Peele...
