Loved the crap out of Lake Mungo and The Innkeepers. I kept thinking about The Inkeepers while watching The Conjuring this past weekend. I thought the problems I had with The Conjuring (besides the tacit christianity that nobody seemed to ask about. Like, what if a Jewish family had moved into the house?), was that it really blew it's load early. The jump scares with the thing in the bedroom were pretty good, but it meant that by the end, you could see everything coming a mile away. But then, I thought Insidious was a laughable mess.

Oh, I also meant to post, I don't know if anyone here has read it because I'm kind of late to the party, but I'm almost done with Guillermo Del Toro's first vampire book The Strain. It's a cracking read, and kind of surprising that it's not a film already.

I'm not one who purposefully goes out to see horror films. Berberian Sound Studio though, dang. A very subtle, slow creeping film about losing yourself/your self. May not be for everyone, but hey.
