My daughter graduated yesterday. First person in my immediate family to graduate from high school since 1967. She inherited a lot of my mental issues (depression, adhd, comprehension issues most likely linked to dyslexia), and graduating was no easy task, especially during a pandemic. I’m incredibly proud of her. Gave her a 2009 Suburu Forester for her efforts. She was stoked, to say the least.

Do you ever feel that a specific type of gear is cursed for you? For some reason, I'm trying to buy a cheap second hand P style bass (don't mind the cosmetic condition, as long as it is viable and has a Fender shaped headstock) to mod and experiment with, and whether it's on eBay or gumtree, it feels like everyone in the UK who is selling a cheapo P -bass with a fender style headstock is incapable of the couple of basic skills necessary to make such a transaction possible. Three separate sellers made it past the "yes, it's available" marker and then just disappeared. If it's gone, why not save yourself the hassle of more "is it still available? I can come and get it whenever" emails by just saying it's gone. Either they're all scammers, or shitty P-basses are selling to people who live around the corner from them in seconds flat. In several cases, there are people selling used Squiers for more than the exact same bass costs new.
Maybe it's a P bass thing. Maybe if I get one - and that's a huge fucking "if" the way things are going - I'll gradually become flaky and illogical.
Gah.

Been waking up very early with the sun here. Left the apartment at half five this morning for a big walk by the water. Saw a load of ducks hanging about. Am recently Pfizered so it's that bit more comfortable navigating this city. Caught a bit of sun, sat and worked while people buzzed by. Despite all the family stress at present, and a boatload of the black dog, the day itself has been good.
Doing my once in a while thing of picking a band I don't see the fuss about, and listening to the discography. It's Radiohead right now. The King of Limbs was tedious. The Bends was OK in places. Still the rest to come but can't see much changing from the last chance they had, a few years back.

Last night I went on a date with my wife for the first time since shutdown. Italian. Food was great, service sucked. Wife was great, as usual.

Woke up to the news that my daughter wrecked the car that I got her for graduation. Only in her possession for 36 hrs, and now she’s back to square one. Totaled.
She’s ok, and probably pretty bummed this morning. I’m bummed, too.

Thankfully, she's OK.
I've just had a cup of gelato:
Scoop one - Browned butter, caramel and rosemary
Scoop two - Blueberry, pepper and yuzu
Sunshine in the park. Read a little, listened to Can. It was pretty good.

Any ideas on what to do with dry bread? I've tried crushing it and putting in soup before but it doesn't taste that good and feels a little depressing to eat.
