I finished it with 4 coats of danish oil tinted with burnt sienna oil paint, wet sanding the first couple of coats in order to create a grain filling slurry of oil and wood dust, and then 2 coats of Briwax on top. The hardware as supplied in the kit is garbage, so I fitted some Warman Firebuckers. I’ll replace the tuners too, and do a touch of fret levelling as there’s a couple of high spots. It didn’t take long to sort the nut. It sounds and plays pretty great though, mildly uneven frets and all, I’m very pleased.
You did it right. That thing slays.

That is absolutely fantastic! Very lovely indeed. 10/10

Did you have to muck about at all with neck alignment? Assuming it is set. That's what scares me a tiny bit...

Thank you! No messing with neck alignment at all, the neck pocket was a nice snug fit. It’s a (Michael) bolt-on, so there’s scope to shim if required but in this case it wasn’t necessary at all.

Just picked up a free pair of 15" bass cabs from a coworker. He was using them on Halloween for his haunted house display and storing them the other 364 days. Loaded with 350 W 8 ohm Peavey Black Widows. No idea how they sound yet, or what I'm going to do with them. They're pretty huge and heavy, but seem well-built. I'll probably keep one and sell the other.
