My electric guitar was stolen recently, and I think it would be good to have a guitar in the house again. I don't need anything fancy, so Squier Telecasters and G&L Tribute ASATs are on my short list.
But I'm curious about these Squier Paranormal semi-hollows with Jazzmaster pickups. Any body played one of these in a wild?

Re: Generic Gear Opinion Request Thread
92Sorry to hear about the guitar. I don’t know that model, but the cheap Squiers are a great buy lately. Looks like they also have a solid Cabronita in that series, too. Even the Affinity ones I’ve played have been good, albeit way more Squier-y looking.
Rondo music seems back in stock of SX stuff, which gets good reviews too.

93TURNTABLE
Our living-room turntable is a piece of shit and must go and I need to figure out how to replace it. We are not particularly picky audio folks and I dont need something ultra high-end. If I found a deal on a Technics 1200 i'd be perfectly happy with that. Otherwise I dont know where to start. It must have a lid/dust-cover and looking good would be a perk. Find something vintage/1970s? Go with a new option? Who has ideas and opinions about this???

The pro-ject debuts still reign supreme as the answer to "i need a turntable" though.
I love you.
Re: Generic Gear Opinion Request Thread
95Agreed. I have had one for a few years and am totally happy with it. Here are my tiny quibbles that don't bother me but might bother others:airloom wrote: Thu Nov 18, 2021 9:36 am

- Have to manually move the belt to the other spindle if you are needing to change RPMs
- the anti-skate weight system is fussy and easy to accidentally bump off
- wall-wart power source
I think that's it. The sound is great to my ears and works exactly as I want. Very no-frills but delivers the sound which is all I need.

96Minor quibbles when you consider the tradeoffs you're making in price. I actually like the anti-skate mechanism fwiw.Garth wrote: Thu Nov 18, 2021 9:51 amAgreed. 97Not at all what you asked, but I have a G&L Bluesboy hollow and I love it. If you're considering a hollow tele with non-standard pickups, might be worth a look. Build is great, and it's a completely fun guitar to play. Has a really lively feel.offal wrote: Mon Nov 15, 2021 9:50 am My electric guitar was stolen recently, and I think it would be good to have a guitar in the house again. 98I have had mine for geez almost a decade now. I have moved 3 times with it and its held up and have had no issues. Over the years I have upgraded the cartridge and basics, but still love it. I am not Mr. High End Audio Nerd, but I do like things to sound good and this sounds good to me.airloom wrote: Thu Nov 18, 2021 11:41 amMinor quibbles when you consider the tradeoffs you're making in price. 99Technics 1200 cannot be beat for the price. Can be repaired, tons of parts. The tonearm isn't great, but good enough. Should last you forever.
