Shit that's a great print. I have one and I need to get it framed. Thanks for the motivation.
Yes, DFTR and spouse were engaged in a contested adoption proceeding and the legal fees were burdensome. The PRF helped out, and those who donated got a Bird Machine poster.
Re: Personal memories from the old forum
93Came here to say this.
My personal memory of the forum is that it gave me a daughter.
She's 11 now, and 5'5". Likes Overwatch, Five Nights at Freddie's, edamame, and basketball.
She named the feral cats who hang around our barn Elizabeth, Eric, and Derek.
She has never been to Chicago, but we're going to fix that soon.
Thanks, PRF.

Re: Personal memories from the old forum
98One memory came to me this afternoon.
The old forum had crap/not crap threads on Malcolm Gladwell, Tom Friedman, and Glenn Greenwald. All three have, by this point, revealed themselves to be terrible thinkers and even possibly terrible people, but the debates on those threads definitely had representatives on both sides.
The funny thing to think about now is that nobody was right about all three. The people who had Greendwald’s number years ago were fooled by Friedman or Gladwell (me!), and vice versa.
No real point other than that it’s kind of funny. It’s so obvious in hindsight who those three pundits and writers really were, but nobody batted three for three at the time.

Re: Personal memories from the old forum
99Fuck, I hope I didn't reply in the Glenn Greenwald thread, I would have given him a solid NC years ago. I need to get my griftdar looked at.Wood Goblin wrote: Sat Oct 16, 2021 3:55 pm The old forum had crap/not crap threads on Malcolm Gladwell, Tom Friedman, and Glenn Greenwald. 100In fairness, had the thread started in, say, 2001, he would’ve received a lot of NC votes.mrcancelled wrote: Sat Oct 16, 2021 4:11 pmFuck, I hope I didn't reply in the Glenn Greenwald thread, I would have given him a solid NC years ago.
