Yeah, American capitalists are well-known for properly paying their staff. It’s one of the principles that keeps capitalism chugging right along.

The second line of the song is "If lust and hate is the candy", and the third line is "If blood and love taste so sweet". For some inexplicable reason, "lust and hate" is a singular subject, grammatically speaking, but "blood and love" is a plural subject. I find this lack of parallelism in the sentence structure upsetting.

Also, "who do you want to blame" really should be "whom do you want to blame".

Ain't no rock and roller ever sang some shit like "whom".

What about "For whom the bell tolls / time marches on"? That's Metallica, not a nerdy English prof's indie pop concern.
