I prefer the A Means to and End covers album of Joy Division songs to the originals.

Bedhead is also on the list. I wonder if there are a dozen solid versions one could find for a tribute playlist by various artists. Curtis's strength, his distinctive bellow, is also kind of a weakness when you hear a more expressive singer honor the song.

Edit: just realized the above is exactly what I imagined. I'll see myself out.

It’s probably the best tribute album I can think of. I’ve listened to it regularly since it was released… checks Wikipedia… nearly thirty years ago 😬

Honestly, even the Billy Corgan and Dave Navarro tracks are great.

This bests any of the stuff on A Means To An End...

(Never mind being better than the original...)

Just to point this one out...

Almost You: The Songs Of Elvis Costello was a keeper.

I've somehow managed the dubious achievement of not listening to Talk Talks 1991's 'Laughing Stock' even once in my 41 on this planet (WTF!) and did so a few days ago because of the 1991 vs 1993 thread.

PS: Holy fuck it is the best thing I've ever heard in my entire life!

No, it's like really fucking good. Like you want to cry it is so genius. I'm glad Joy Division were a band so a cover like this could happen.
