The neck pickup is great. Less in love w/ the 1/4 pounder bridge. Making a list of improvements, which I'll share after a few others have a chance to check it out.
Eager to hear even the roughest phone recording of this!

I'll see about firing up the little field recorder at the practice space.

Had a great hangout today w/ FM Tallchris. Was able to A/B/C with a Tyranny and a Series 2. While cosmetically not even close, I think sonically very similar to the Tyranny, and with a much thicker neck than even the Dennison profile on the Series 2, which for me is key to playability. Tallchris has taken the guitar for a week and will give it a proper shakedown and return with feedback.

I have a list of refinements for this guitar:
-Enlarge the cutout in the headstock and ease edges further to reduce weight and maybe make it look slightly more elegant,
-Replace faulty bridge PU with similar PAF type humbucker
-recess plate over back cavity
-refine neck/polish
-Refit nut
-and whatever other folks come up with.

I have a second billet of aluminum on the way to make #2. The biggest change will be some adjustments to the headstock geometry. In looking at the EGC's, I can see Kevin was confronting the same issues, which is reassuring.

Just wanna note that Jury's build plays really great, and I'm looking forward to digging into it more over the next week! Will have some more interesting/detailed feedback for Chris, but really it felt pretty dang comfortable in my hands right off the bat.

Neck profile is definitely closer to what I think of a 50's Les Paul or baseball bat Tele neck, thicker than the EGC Dennison neck for sure. Balance really well too, no neck dive!

I met up w/ FM Tallchris yesterday, got some good feedback, and brought the prototype home. Today after work I got it disassembled and started making some refinements to the neck unit. I re-contoured the neck a bit and slimmed the headstock slightly. also cut the heel on the body to be slightly less obnoxious. Tomorrow I'm working from home, so will fire up the drill press on my lunch break- The goal will be to extent the slot in the headstock by about 1/2" and to drill out the areas in sharpie to relieve some more weight.

Chris also made a great demo MP3- just trying to figure out the best way to post it here.
