If they're allegedly ripping off Garbage, that's like third-gen Curve ripoff. Tyler Perry effect.

I don't see that. They're more sardonic than angsty. It's not the worst thing, garagey riffs with chatty, cynical, occasionally catchy vocals. It's on a knife's edge between witty and vapid.

I find them just sort of fine. At most it's kind of interesting that something of this attitude can be so big.

I think someone like Courtney Barnett has done something similar but far more substantive and authentic.

Yeah, she's pretty ok. Good sounding guitar, decent songs. But I saw her last summer and was SUPER disappointed by how choreographed the whole set was. I was expecting something a little unhinged, with crazy horse jams etc. Every moment of the set was scripted and she didn't "go off" even once. Nor did anyone in the band make any eye contact with each other.

Yeah, I got the feeling she was in a bad place after her divorce. She seems to be taking some time out of the public eye. I wonder if you caught her at a low point.

Ah too bad. I caught her maybe 10 years ago before even knowing who she was and it was jammy and feedback-y in a cool way. I think the records are pretty tame and boring by comparison but that was a good set.
