Acoustic instruments without pickups are really the only place for those.

Phone apps work too but the free ones are limited/suck. I was willing to pay for one but not $8 goddamn dollars a month. Subscription-based 'gear': now that's a thing worth hating.

They suck! Not only do they never work properly but they break simply by looking at them.

I use a more discrete clip on tuner for couch laziness. Seems like they'd be a nightmare at a real performance.

These Ibanez basses. Hate the headstock, hate the tuners. It looks like someone started to melt a plastic model of a Fender Precision and was inspired to make this monstrosity. Often seen in the hands of terrible bands. I get it, it's cheap, a starter bass for people, but I hate it.

They're really handy! Easy to pass around, tune backstage or in a broom closet or whatever, not in your signal chain, don't get kicked around or jumped on by clodhopping band members, cheap and small enough to keep one or two knocking around in your case. Plenty adequate accuracy for stage tuning a guitar that's about to be spanked to death in a hot room full of moist sweaty people.

We've probably all been in bands with one of these. Technically nothing wrong with them, but yeah look like Homer Simpson's drawing of a P-Bass from memory.

I feel Attacked! not really. I have one of these that a previous owner hacked an (ugly) custom pickguard and Seymore duncan music man style pickup into. It plays great and I like it. Always had an ibanez bass of some sort around because, yes, they're cheap (also I'm primarily not a bassist)

I will argue, however, that Yamaha's of similar styling are much uglier. I HATE the top horn on these fucking things.

and those are my reasons entirely. The part about "terrible bands" was just an observation, and I'll take any correction anyone has on that.

I still think they're ugly.

Full disclosure, I've also owned potentially ugly stuff too. But these Ibanez bother me.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, most bass gear is uglier compared to guitar gear. That feels true for basses as well.

Yeah, Same on the ugly stuff. I kinda feel this way about the Ibanez RG guitars. Love the necks, hate the bodies.

...if I'm being perfectly honest I kinda think Tele's are inherently fugly, but I cannot deny that they are legit great guitars.
