I got back on it after the election. It's pretty much the only game in town now, unfortunate because I don't love the Twitter format but if that's how to avoid AI and nazis..

(trolls try to establish themselves but quickly get shunned and blocked)

There are some starter packs for quick follow suggestions. Someone made a PRF one, which is largely comprised of people who were more active here 10-15 years ago (not a bad thing at all).

Fuck Meta and Musk, etc.

I'm on here now.

Anyone been using it for a while and have tips?
It’s something I should’ve done years and years ago, but I’m deleting my Facebook account at the end of the month. I’d do it sooner, but I need to grab alternative contact information from some friends.

Not particularly interested in Bluesky, though. A friend suggested using WhatsApp to stay in touch with groups of people, but that too is owned by Meta.

Are there any decent alternatives? I’d be content just to use regular old texts, if there’s no better option.

Not sure if it qualifies as "decent" but my kids almost exclusively use Discord and it's the best way for me to get a hold of them now. It's not owned by any of the giants.
