I don't need to dress like a speckled corndog to get my point across.

OK.
This is causing me to re-think every decision I’ve made in my entire life. Can I retroactively delete this thread?

I just checked, and Pat Metheny still sucks, so a Beato intervention isn’t required just yet.

Rick Beato taking a shine to them is like in the Y2K era when your mom took you aside and said, "Have you heard of this band Marilyn Munster? What about Cool Charlotte? Do you like Busta Chimes?"

Marilyn Munster is way the fuck cooler than Marilyn Manson.

I think it is cooler than him getting into like... Polyphia or Sleep Token or any of that boring hoseshit. This is cartoon music made by Puff 'n Stuffs but at least it is kinda fun and weird. I don't want to listen to it but I'm not mad that it's out there for people to point at and say "tha fuck is that?"

I agree. This AdP development kinda echoes the way that the Andre 3000 experimental-flute-piano albums pissed off people who spent years toiling in obscure realms of experimental music and never received a fraction of the attention Andre did.

It seems positive that a whole bunch of normies (or naïve youngsters) might get their horizons widened a little.
I may not go for it but it's not like this band is downright shitty or evil or something.

OK I get it, maybe to you they ARE downright shitty but I could definitely find bands to dislike more than this.

"But there's another version of this somewhere that nobody knows about that's way better..."
Yes, that's how I thought about Nirvana when I was 16. Get used to it.

There's an interview on YT with the guy who built the guitar, I watched some of it, it was interesting. What the hell.

This made my day. Salute!

What this genre needs is Beato. Looped jazz bullshit through a wall of priceless Plexi's and every rare pedal in Rhett Shull's YouTubeverse.

Had the early access password for their August show in Portland. Clicked the tab at 10 am and was notified that I would have about a 4 minute wait, but the pre-sale had sold out by the time I got in. Hoping for a better result tomorrow. Meanwhile, out of curiosity I had a look at what resellers wanted and couldn't find anything for less than about $300. I like this band and I'm looking forward to their second album in a couple of weeks, but if I don't get general sale tickets tomorrow, I'm not about to pay that.

At least Don Caballero was actually great.
