They're alright, have a few good songs, but definitely not enough crap to warrant a 'crap' vote from me.

one of my favorite bands. I didn't like OK Computer.
but Kid A, Amnesiac and Hail To The Thief are all great records.
the guitar on "I might be wrong" is awesome!

Ugh... But that Hawaii 5-0 drum fill on Paranoid Android is so bad.
Totally overrated band. They sound like a diluted copy of better art rock bands.
A lot of their tunes are just soundscapes. Like the one they played on SNL with the hip-hoppin' drums where the difference between the verse and chorus was some synth pads. The drum beat was the same through the whole song.
They must be paid based on how many times they repeat the same measure of music, because they are one of the most redundant bands I have ever heard. More likely, it's computer based recording where they just cut out bits and loop them so it sounds tight...

The yuppies networking <---horrible line
Word. Yuppies love Radiohead. Go to any business school, and you will find Kid A on half the student's iPods. Radiohead is more about fashion and slick marketing music videos than quality music. They are the Andy Warhol of alternaiive music.

Oh yeah. My brother is into beer, system of a down, football, UT, poker, roller hockey, jack johnson, baseball and basket ball. Anytime I'm riding in his truck with him, he puts on his copy of Kid A. He does it to be nice and accommodating, which he is, but I think that sort of strengthens all of your 'weird music for everybody' critiques.

I disagree with both these opinions, and I would go so far as to say the latter one in particular comes off as incredibly uninformed.

Radiohead is a great band, and I would easily consider them to be not crap. Very little waffling here. I love OK Computer, Kid A, and Amnesiac. I also don't think they are trite, highly derivative, or overrated, like a lot of the people in this thread seem to think. Their 'sound' changes a lot from album to album and while a lot of times I can see where they were coming from, influence-wise, they definitely can't just be dismissed as ripping people off left and right. They are overrated if you're confronting the people who consider them the Greatest Rock Band of All Time(tm), but that comes with the whole thing of them being really famous.
My biggest issue is one of feeling sometimes they are being a little ingenuine. This is mostly because I hate music videos and posed band shots so much, and I think their liner notes and promotional art is terrible and (forgive me) pretty pretentious. However, it's far more important to me that they have been to the top and still seemed to have been doing what they want, and I'm willing to accept that part of the reason they're so big is because unlike a lot of "weird" bands, they go along with the whole promo/music video/major label thing that is neither cool nor underground. Nirvana was like that, too. Whatever. The music is still very good, to me, and certainly a catalyst in my early musical education.
