🔥🔥🔥🍑🍑🍑😍😍😍🥵🥵🥵😈😈😈

I’m only on EP #1 so no spoilers please
I grew up playing hockey in Ontario and there was at least one guy on our team came out of the closet later in life. (Insert chirp here) So what I’ll say is after watching one episode, they should’ve started it with aggressive naked change room fights.

Very well acted, amazingly shot.
When I was growing up, it had only been a few years since he had been caught. And I was growing up around the area, so there were some people that my parents knew that knew him. Looking back on it, my babysitter at the time (she had a home daycare) had her house filled with clown paintings, and I still wonder how many of them, if any, were Gacy's. Not that she murdered children, or that any of the children she watched were murdered. But my memory of those paintings has always haunted me. They creeped me out me back then, when I was too young to know or understand who Gacy was.

That's chilling to hear, I'm so sorry.

The only consolation I had watching this incredibly depressing series is that it wasn't solely centered on the murderer, which always reeks of celebratory. You know, that playing on the fascination people tend to have over serial killers. Here the story of the boys, their families, the grief, the anguish is told in great detail and with empathy. Not even for a minute I had the impression the "man" was nothing else than a sad, twisted, manipulative being. That said, the actor playing "him" did an incredible job basically playing three people: the pillar of the community, the monster, and everything inbetween.

You're left with the impression that pure evil is this banal, everyday thing, unfolding right in front of unsuspecting, good-hearted people. Sad, just sad.

Started watching a psychological crime series from the UK called Wolf about a cop trying to finally catch the person who murdered his brother, and a differing story about a home invasion taking place and how these two plotlines will intersect. Only on ep 2 and I'm digging it. It's on Shudder so, yeah, it's tense and violent. There is a li'l rough and tumble action with a poochie but the poochie survives and is cared for. If one is sensitive to that sorta thing you might get the oogies; if one revels in the oogies you'll be fine.

Night Manager starring Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston. S1 is really good, S2 is kind of a rehash and a slog until the last few episodes, which really pay off at the end, I thought.

Broadchurch with Olivia Coleman is great.

Irvine Welsh's Crime is good, but even the subtitles don't help sometimes.

Industry season 4 is good, if a little (more) over the top at times, on Max.

Watched Mildred Pierce, to go with the Todd Haynes retrospective a local arts center carried recently. Enjoyed it. I don't like spoilers, but a certain character is one of the most hateable ever put to screen (and paper, I imagine).

Tried to watch All Her Fault, but gave up after a few episodes and made sure to spoil it by reading the rest of the plot online, so I wouldn't have to see the rest to find out where it was going.

Back in December, our local indie cinema showed a new print of Safe, for its 30th anniversary. I made sure to go to one of the showings.
