Little detail from yesterday:

High winds meant that Lake Michigan was choppy with high waves.

While riding my bike to work via the Lake Shore Drive bike path, I was nearing the S curve near Michigan Avenue and noticed a HUGE wave coming my way. In seconds I was pedaling fast through several inches of water on an incline. It was easier to navigate than I thought it would be but immediately got soaked in cold lake water as the wave hit the opposite wall and splashed back.

Fortunately I got to work fast and warmed up quickly.

I love biking in this city.

it the lord telling you that 32oz is too much soda. try 12 or 16oz next time.

was anyone surfing?

No surfing. This was at 5:30pm and the lifeguards were out with their jackets and scarves on.

I hope that as a German she values cleanliness and order and doesn't leave me presents in the toilet after she's used it.

I hope that dinner invitation is still open. For everything.

A little detail from Friday: my boss made a doll of me:

"These are the threads... the strands... that your bones once hung from."

She then promised to flush both versions down the toilet, original and improvement.

Quite brilliant in these grey days.

I worked a walk for seniors this fine day. I wrangled volunteers, wrestled emergencies, and got quite punchy by the end, driving the golf cart around hollering "IT'S FLOORED! VROOOOM!" as the cart topped out at, uh, 4 miles an hour.

I am tired and my feet hurt like the dickens. I did get quite a few genuine hugs and nice words from my volunteers. That was before I started dive-bombing folding chairs with the golf cart, of course.
