Look, if what I said was out of the blue I'd be close to understanding the reaction, but as a response to being called a shit and told to fuck off,and it being based on an several earlier posts its pretty obvious that not being funny is the only thing wrong with it.

But then again, when slightly modifying someone's name to turn it into an swearword is the hilarious comedy yardstick of this forum, I'm sort of at lose of how to bring myself up to standard.

And no, I'm not going to apologise based on the prudish response of a third party. This has never happened with accusations of racism, bigotry and facism, so I'm comfortable with leaving things be.

If an anti choice president were no big deal, I would not have the concerns I do today. 8 years ago I assumed abortion rights were safe, and now I see freedom eroding because of the current president. A democratic congress is no comfort to me since they have ridiculously low approval ratings, and could lose their majority in 2 years for all I know. Everybody has worms in their apples, but this one is fundamental, and causes me to mistrust the man's understanding of his own philosophy. I require ethical consistency, cause the alternative is disquieting.

There are no "abortion rights" or absolute rights to privacy. If there is a deep divide among people as to what constitutes life, which is what the abortion argument boils down too, the democratic process should occur at the lowest level of government. Paul himself has said that it gets tricky to legislate because of the differing opinions and morals. It is true that Paul would try to persuade people to vote to ban abortion to an unknown extent, but he has never said that he would use some kingly power to eliminate abortion as president. Clinging tightly to the abortion issue is really strange. What is the underlying principle that makes it so essential?

I think this interview encapsulates fully RP's views.

You know what Dave?

Up until now I have just thought you were a self-righteous smug little prick, but damn boy, you have proven yourself to be an utter piece of fucking shit with that little comment.

Did I say fuck you?

No, I guess I didn't.

Fuck you.

Do you prefer getting raped from the front or the back?

are you fucking serious with this shit, man?
What would be going on in your head to say some shit like this?
Man, listen to the girl and just fuck off with your bullshit.
There's mean shit, there's funny shit and then there's shit that's just not gonna fly no way.
Get a guidebook or something

No, that wasn't the only thing wrong with it. And this shows to me you clearly don't understand one thing I've written here.

For the record, I hate how people throw stuff like that around. Viable threads fall apart when they become people just throwing shit at each other like this, which is why I rarely pop in, and why I'll not post again on this thread after I'm done here. But as evil as racism and fascism are, most people on the forum have experience with them in a more abstract level, and not on a direct, personal level.

Most of us are not experiencing police brutality, or torture by some government agency, or discrimination based on our skin color. We can think it's wrong, and do things to try to stop it, but for the most part we haven't experienced it directly, or through friends and family.

Rape is a different matter, for me, and for a lot of people I know. It's not right to be like that, racism and oppression should be as much on the table as anything else. So that's been my failing there.

But that doesn't give you an excuse to be an ass yourself, or at least not in this way. Call someone an asshole, tell them their full of shit, whatever works for you. But you're implying something about a direct and personal victimization of another human being that I can't abide, something I personally consider a form of torture. And you said it as a joke. I have to wonder what kind of person does that, and doesn't feel any shame.

One more thing: if what I wrote makes me a "prude", I'd rather be that than "one of the boys" like you any day, little man.

big_dave wrote:If Nina wants an apology, she has it, but considering I've already offended her dozens of times in the past just by posting I'm going to assume that it would be unwanted. A terrible internet joke got personal, this should not happen.

The rest of you would do well to stop being offended on behalf of other people.

I'm not offended on behalf of anyone, Nina is a grown up and can handle herself. I just think it's some unfunny ignorant shit that I dislike reading.

Look, its a terrible old joke. I posted a version in response to another version posted elsewhere, there was certainly never anything personal meant. Psssssch.

I still don't get how this is worse than "Do you still beat your wife?" or "Are you still an incredible racist?". In school we used to say "6 or 7? How old do you like 'em? 6 or 7?".

Like I said, a terrible old joke.

I'm getting serious deja vu in this thread because one of my old bosses at work used to love the "Do you still beat your wife?" gag, or as he put it "Have you beaten the wife lately?" and eventually his daily usage of the joke caught him in the awkward situation of explaining it to a young temp worker who was mystified by how it could even be called a joke. Also the man used to laugh before the "victim" of joke could even respond making it impossible to understand why the fuck he'd said it.
