Suppose none of you have heard of the band Rapeman?
The joke wasn't particularly tasteful (sure Dave would be the first to admit that since he's already apologised unlike others who have made similarly offensive and hurtful comments, often not even meant in jest), but to miss the point that he was parodying *similarly* distasteful remarks made at him comes across as nothing more than a contrived and intellectually dishonest way of taking the moral highground.
The double standards on this forum are laughable. It's like watching some crazy form of linguistic chess with everyone pouncing on each other's words to gain a better strategic position.
Sanctimonious pricks the lot of you.

It's mildly amusing that you edited this but left the last line the same.
I'm a little shocked that you decided to weigh in with this one considering your whole issue in the anti-depressants thread was one regarding insensitivity and potential offense.

A fairly predictable criticism...
Rick's comments on the antidepressants thread were an insult not a joke, Dave's comments were clearly meant as a joke, albeit a distasteful one. I would not have had an issue with Rick if he'd just apologised, clarified his point in a more sensitive way and moved on, but he didn't.
I can understand how some people may find Dave's joke offensive, I just don't believe that the people posting here are taking offense because they are genuinely offended. Perhaps I'm wrong, but the impression I get is that people are taking offense in a kind of smug, I'm a-better-person-than-you type way - that is what I am taking issue with.
Re: the sig - I don't think Dave is a cunt, he just made a bad joke for which he explained his reasoning and apologised.

Bullshit. Naming a band Rapeman (which by the way, isn't directed at anyone) is completely different. Dave asked Rick first, and rightfully Nina got upset. Then, he had the balls to ask her that? Come on.
If you're going to "parody", even shoddily, then make it at least topical, not about fucking rape.
