since this isn't rank or crap/not crap I am going to have to say split decision.
tho maybe blonde redhead was slightly better? maybe? I saw melt-banana this yr, been awhile since blonde redhead made it up to my neck of the woods

i have not seen either of those bands but i would say melt-banana because ive heard their live shows are the best. plus they excite me much more than blonde redhead.

you have not seen either of the bands so yr opinion does not count, that is what I think you meant to say

i never saw blonde redhead, though i've heard they kill live, but i did get a chance to see melt banana (just once) several months ago and it was without question one of the best shows i've ever seen. i like to rate live shows in terms of the percent of the way that they "take me there" (figuratively, not literally). bands that many people refer to as great, i find usually rate 95-97% or so. black eyes were like that : everybody talking about how unbelievably great they are live, and i couldn't put the time i saw them any higher than 95%ish. mission of burma and melt banana are the only two shows of 2003 that were 100% (or greater, if that's possible). i was just curious to see if people had similarly amazing experiences with blonde redhead, cause one of my better friends seemed to feel the way about blonde redhead that i felt about melt banana. just blown way the hell away by the live show. plus i've been listening to blonde redhead all day. hence the question.
and totally, the Classical, the question is kinda inbetween rank and crap/not crap somehow, but definitely not really within either format. so i didn't feel too keen about putting the question there.

It totally depends on what you're into... If hearing noisy/aggressive music with people acting fucking wild is your idea of a great show... then Melt Banana!
But if you like solid showmanship, but a bit more tame on the crowds end... then Blonde Redhead may suit you best.
The music and the live show of Blonde Redhead suit me better!
I took the best friggin' pictures in my life of Blonde Redhead in Austin, right before The Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons came out. Amazing pictures. I'm so proud! Cheers.
