Anybody else hear a notable similarity between the vocal timbres, and even styles, of J Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines) and Trey Anastasio (Phish)? Anybody?

how about Staind, Nickelback, and every other band that corporate America has pulled out of its ass in the last year or so.
(I am quite ashamed that I am actually familiar with the above bands-- we listen to a "rock" station at work. Based on our clientel, I automatically associate this "music" with rednecks [often sporting one of the two ugliest haircuts in the world].)

When Beck first got popular w/that jokey rap song, I was sure it was Thurston Moore doing one of his bad jokey things a la Ciccone Youth. Or SY's "Master Dik" 12'.

Check out the thread on worlds ugliest haircuts. The other is the shaved hair on the sides long on top, though surely not as popular in its familiarly horrific appearances as is the mullet.
