Ok...I'm pretty much in agreement with the majority of people in the other topic.
However, I'm curious about what you think about setting up a "vibe" in the practice space. I'm really big about writing music in creative environments. I just can't get into it when I'm in that guy's living room and the neighbors keep walking by talking really loud....fuckers.

2Fine, as long as (and lets face it, always does) turn out be, regrettably, christmas lights.

3Ours is set up with at least two cases of PBR cans (ALWAYS warm--if we have to buy it cold, we let it warm up before we drink it), a bottle of Jimador tequila, and various candies (spice drops, Sour Patch Kids, Cherry Nibs, Swedish Fish.*

4i dunno about for anybody else, but for me, the mood of the practice space is vastly important. the lamest most stale music i've ever played was when we were rehearsing in a room that was previously an office space, with white drywall and wood panel walls, a white acoustical tile ceiling, green astroturf floor, and our very own thermostat in the room. it was very clean, and very lifeless. it sucked. some of the best music was created in the space that was way too small, had a floor made of wood slats that were warped in places because the roof leaked (and destroyed my PA once) and was just generally shitty and disgusting. kinda like a crap version of the place i'm at now.
the sterile environment is no good. the super-disgusting environment is not the greatest, but it's probably better than sterile if you're looking to rock the fuck out. and if you're all into getting wasted and rocking bawlz, you can whip bottles at walls and shit if you're in a craptastic space.
for vibe, moderate use of colored lighting is great, i think. my rehearsal space right now is my favorite ever for vibe. it's a really, really big room, and though it used to be a locker room, it's actually nice acoustically and has a slightly dirty, industrial kinda feel to it.
i've recently brought my one badass vintage finger-chopper fan over there, and all of my vintage lamps. which is four of them. all from the 70's or older. all of them were gifts from friends/family, two of them were garage sale specials... got a couple colored lightbulbs (a blue and a red), a couple low-wattage white lightbulbs... with the glass block windows, it looks fucking gorgeous at sunset. very inspiring.
the vibe of the practice space can break up a band for fucks sake! i've seen it! i need my practice space to be a place i can go spend a shitload of time at, where after i've been there for 6 hours, i still have no interest in leaving. where eventually i just *have* to leave due to physical exhaustion, not because i ever felt like "i wanna get out of here" on a conscious or subconscious level.

5My rehearsal space "vibe" consists of the following:
-Camel Filters
-Miller High Life
-Red Wine, under $12
-Gear Galore
No X-mas lights, but I do keep it dimly lit with a single lamp.
That's all the "vibe" I need.

you're saying that any room with one dim lamp would be the same as any other room with that same dim lamp in it, provided you have the gear and the "gear"?
is it clean, is it dirty, wood floors, carpet floors, what are the walls made of, what color are the walls, how high are the ceilings, is there any natural lighting or is it all artificial, is there HVAC (heat only,AC also, space heater), etc etc etc.

No...

I keep it very clean. Carpetted floors, white brick walls, 20-25 ft ceilings, all artifical lighting, central air and heat, also have a ceiling fan that I don't trust the slightest bit.
And no fucking clocks.
