If you want a really cool cheap passive DI you can buy a really shitty cheap passive DI box on ebay and replace the transformer with a UTC transformer as long as there's room in the box. You can buy UTC's on ebay too. I can't remember offhand what the best choice is for a DI box (A-20?). Maybe somebody else can tell you. In any case, UTC transformers sound great in DI boxes, especially for bass.
Or you can get a project box at Radio Shack and build your own. All you'll need is the transformer, some hookup wire, a drill, an iron, and a switch for the ground drop.
Chas.

I would highly recommend saving up a couple extra bucks and buying a countryman... There really isn't any point in throwing away perfectly good money on a bad DI box, because bad ones are almost useless, and the very best are only a little more.
