what's your favorite sonic youth era? mine is the olden golden days!
i hope this is considered a suitable enough division of their general "sound" by time period, but if it's not, there's always that token option at the end.

2I think I'd actually prefer a couple of albums from each period. Say, 2 out of every 3.

3i think they got back on it with nurse, really. I can only think of two youth releases i don't like (jet set and dirty). I love bad moon, confusion, and sister. Those three albums are the greatest three of the 80's

Agreed. I can't say enough good things about that record.

5It's easier for me to list the albums I don't like:
"Goo"
"Washing Machine"
"Jet Set...blah blah CRAP"
"NYC Ghosts & Flowers"
And that's all.

6Am I the only one who dug the Jet Set album?
Didn't like Goo either. What the fuck was up with putting rappers on songs back then? There was that ridiculous REM song that had one on it too. Weak.
I liked Dirty too.
Evol is my fave. I like them when they're being kinda creepy.

I like Jet Set, too. It's not my favorite SY record, but I definitely enjoy it. I like Goo, too. Really, the only SY records I don't like (A LOT) are A Thousand Leaves and NYC Ghosts and Flowers.*
*That statement may contradict something I've said in a previous SY related thread as my opinion of their records changes often (especially my opinion of the ones I don't love. My general opinion that Sonic Youth is fucking great never changes though.

9thanks peripatetic, i love to get in a close contact with my monitor
i'm in the 'few albums from each era wagon too (albums would be confusion, evol and a thousand leaves) if i had to pick one era i would 95-00 (with SYR's), but with a massive waffle factor.
as for experimental, i enjoy this album but i rarely listen to it.

10I don't like,
Bad Moon Rising
Dirty
NYC Ghosts and Flowers
The best albums, for different reasons, are Confusion is Sex and Daydream Nation.
