Does anyone know what type of mic Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters uses live? A guy told me it was a beyer m88.

I think he uses Beyerdynamic E815, E816, or E17.

Had a close look at one of his gig photos and it's an Audix of some description. My guess a OM 7. Any other suggestions etc.

According to Audix USA, he use an OM-6. For whatever that is worth...

He used to use an OM5 for a while. And the last time I've seen them they've been using an Audio Technica 4054. Never seen him use an OM6 or OM7 for some reason.

You seriously want to buy a microphone because some people in some online forum tell you that the guy from Foo Fighters uses it or something similar on stage?
That sounds crazy. Why is it important? I always thought he can't sing.
I'm sure Grohl has an endorsement contract with Audix and uses the mic because he gets paid money for advertising it and not because it's the best live vocal mic on earth.

Hey, it's all relative. It's like saying shure mics suck because Darby Crash sang through one.

Audix does make some nice mics.
