This is fucking awesome for the following reasons:
- No more need for record companys/producers to exploit young, dumb, & full of cum "artists" to produce mass market drivel.
- With professional CGI software a-la ILM you can create the visual "body" or aspect of the "artist" to look like Angelina Jolie on steroids, or Justin Timberlake...but "better".
- Any dumbass with a computer and some cash can produce "music" without the need to acquire or hire "talent", just ideas for catchy "hit" tunes and a working knowlege of the software. Hell, with stuff like Sonic Foundry "ACID" you don't even need to know anything about MIDI - which is "so '87" anyway.
- The "producer" or "mastermind" gets to keep all the subsequent royalties for themselves.
This will become the de-facto method for producing "hits" in the future, and it's about high time. I can't wait 'till they find a way to sample the style, timbre, and inflection of dead singers. I've already go plans to make Enrico Caruso sing for Godsmack, make Bing Crosby sound like Eddie Vedder, or the other way around - or something.
