hi-

long time browser, many cool people on this forum with great taste in music and wonderful minds. i can promise i'm not a cum or waltermalling or madchaosopher or any of those other bottom-dwelling dweebs.

I did have a question though (not directed at Steve necessarily but anyone with a bit of recording experience):

Listening to Surfer Rosa recently, I was struck by a few things:

-vocal track on 'something against you' constantly feedbacks, sounds like it was run through a guitar amp or the like. how was this effect achieved?

-'wooo....' STOP on 'where is my mind'- was this to loop the vocal or what? it sounds nerdy, but always though it was a nice touch to the song.

sorry, i'm a newbie and have to ask the stupid questions.

Unfortunately, with these questions, you've broken EA Forum unspoken rule number one and EA Forum unspoken rule number four.

And you have just contravened EA Unspoken Rule 17.2 sub-clause D regarding new members.

And don't even think about multiple user names.

Section 14, subsection 11D John 3:16

And Steve only seems to answer questions pertaining to hats.

I was on the toilet during most of those sessions. I guess that;s why they sound like crap to me

Black Francis/Frank Black used to have a mic onstage that he used to distort his vocals. Maybe he just brought his own in. It was weird looking, like it was made from a cb radio.
