Noisy Guitar Amp

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some line noise that I'm getting in my amp.

It's a Fender Princeton 65 (solid state, 50W), with clean and drive channels. The problem is, that even on the clean channel at level 2 or 3 (which is astoundingly loud), i get a substantial ammount of fuzz/noise without even playing anything. The amp is properly grounded and still makes this sound.

Is it the amp? Is it some circuitry that can be fixed? Suggestions?

Thanks

Back in the '70s we used to float amps with an isolation transformer to kill noises like that. I spent the '80s working with Quicksilver and the tan Bassman we used for recording didn't hum except with one strat and my iso transformer didn't help. Finally we tried a funky first generation Nady wireless rig that David Freiberg had used on the road when he was in Starship. Contrary to my expectations, the thing worked and sounded great.

unfortunately, mine is nothing that interesting. just noise.

i probably should have also mentioned that it occurs when nothing is plugged in and it's just turned on.

is this a stupid question maybe? do they all do this?
