I have been a big fan of Albini's work for years, from Big Black to Shellac to all those friggin awesome recordings with HUGE drums. I have to say Albini is one of my top fave producer/engineers.

I am a recording hobbyist and I have scoured the net before a couple times looking for articles on Albini's production techniques, mic choices, etc. but I always drew a blank. I would get obscure references to vinyl pressings or the articles about the recording industry, but after awhile I kinda just assumed the guy was pretty low key about his stuff.

Then I happened upon this website and could not believe my eyes! How long had this been up? I have never heard of it before! Whats this? Steve Albini's actual studio website?! Actual pictures of the rooms where some of my favorite bands were recorded! Adobe brick is what the drum room is made of!?!! And a comprehensive catalog of all the vintage, esoteric mics with descriptions and full color photographs to boot?!?!?! And to top it all off an actual user group where you can actually get recording tips from the man himself?!?!?! I have come home!

Thanks to Mr. Albini and everyone else for putting this site up. It is awesome!

Dude, calm down, you're gonna get us all kicked out.

Mr A insists that we refer to him only as Mr A. Also, anyone disagreeing with him or his tastes is immediately banned. Not just from this forum but from buying any record that Mr A turbo-produced.

And god help you if you say a bad word about Tascam. One guy got knifed with a rolling pin. I'm not even serious. Honest.

BadComrade wrote:TMH,

You get www.electrical.com on a google search when searching for "Steve Albini" because you're hip. When you perform a search on google, it searches your PC for content, and gives you results accordingly.

The reason why beerman couldn't find www.electrical.com 2nd in the list on a google search for "Steve Albini" is because after google searched content on his PC, it decided that the best result would be http://www.albinimusic.com/

Technology...

shit i'm one point below TMh's hipness level as this site is on 3rd place in my "steve albini" google search. the first two are pages with "the problem with music" article so i guess it means i gain points on being very anti-major labels..?
