To be perfectly honest, I can't think of a single one I like other than Fugazi, even then I am only into some of their stuff.
I got a Make Up album once on a friend's recommendation, and I couldn't believe it- how much like a novelty act it was. But it seemed to be big with the Ann Arbor hipsters, since incredibly gae, cutesy Make Up-type bands were popping up all over the place around there at that time.
Finally, I don't get it about Minor Threat: They never played anything interesting, just standard punk chugga-chugga power chord action. And I'll never forgive them for starting all of this sXe bullshit. Fugazi didn't even start to get good until it sounded like they were taking drugs.
So, no, not much of a Dischord fan.

Okay, I'll take the bait.
Minor Threat didn't start the whole trend of Straight Edge. The responsibility lies with those people that worshipped Ian Mackay as a role model and attempted to create an identity from this individual's one or two songs that outlined his particular stance on alcohol, drugs and casual sex. If you want to blame any one band for the whole horrible hitler-youth type mess that was straight edge, blame Youth of Today. And as far as their chugga-chugga thing goes, as far as I'm aware, no-one was taking punk rock to that fast and direct a sound before them.
Incidental to all this, a poster above has just reminded me to also give many plus points to SHUDDER TO THINK. Brilliant.
