3Yes! Thigh! Very high meat to bone content. Superior on the grill, and the best for stock making as well. Often very cheap too, since, at least in America, the "I want it now and simply" culture has fostered a demand for things like the boneless, skinless breast. The breast meat of birds may be tasty, but it's harder to cook without drying it out. Thighs do not suffer from this problem...

4I prefer the breast meat. The dark meat is too greasy and gamey tasting for my liking. I should really give the thigh a chance, though. I have heard good things about its ilk from many.
Does anyone have any favourite recipes or cooking suggestions for the thigh? I am am willing to sacrifice my thigh virginity.

I don't know if it's just a Texas thing, but Popeye's has 79 cent legs and thighs on Tuesdays.
It doesn't get any better than that (unless you live in Memphis. Eat at Gus'.)
**Do we need the other Chemical Bros. records??

We don't have Popeye's this far North. I believe the Popeye's line ends in Milwaukee. However, I will likely be moving to Baton Rouge in the next few months because I am apparently the stupidest person on the face of the planet. If so, I shall take your advice and try the thighs.

My wife makes this dish with chicken thighs that is so good. She got it from Food Tv's Alton Brown. This man is amazing and apparently this is his favorite dish of all time. It's definitely one of mine as well.
Chicken in Garlic and Shallots
SOFTWARE
1 whole chicken (broiler/fryer) cut into 8 pieces, or 10 chicken thighs
Salt
Freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons olive oil
Several sprigs of parsley, sage, thyme, roasmary
10 peeled cloves of garlic
10 shallots, peeled and split in half from stem to root
HARDWARE
Large ovenproof saute pan with tight-fitting lid. (Straight sides are needed. If you don't have such a pan, you may need to brown the chicken in one pan and then finish the dish in a casserole.) Tongs for handling meat.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Season chicken liberally with salt and pepper. Toss with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and brown on both sides in a wide frying pan or skillet over high heat. Remove from heat; add herbs, garlic, shallots and the remaining 1/2 cup olive oil. (There's no reason to chop the herbs, just distribute them around and in between the chicken.) Cover and bake for 1 1/2 hours. Serves 6.
For an additional special treat, mix some of the garlic and shallots from the chicken with some mashed potatoes. Serve with a good wine and a salad of your choice and prepare for your socks to be knocked off.

Thank you for the recipe. "Good Eats" is one of my most beloved television shows ever and I admit to having a slight crush on Alton Brown. I also have a slight crush on Eric Bachman, so apparently I am attracted to balding, geeky-looking men who vaguely resemble that one guy who used to be on "E.R."
