I wonder if Bradley R. Weissenberger would go see a band called "The Man Whore Business."

What kind of business is that, exactly? Male Prostitution?

Anyway, if you do a search, there's already a lengthy thread on this.

Let's see. . . if you just do a search for "librarian," yup, here it is.

What do you do for a living?

Pretty highfalutin work there Tom, how does it compare to, say, the Man Whore Business?

On the whole I like it quite a bit. I'm not a big fan of the 'manager' aspects of it. Dealing with employees and payroll. Not that I work with bad people, I just feel weird asking people to do things.

But the actual textbook stuff is fun. I can't really think of another industry that it's similar to. About 90% of our annual sales comes from 4 weeks.
You have 3 months or so to set up all your cards and get everything in on time and then you have 4 days to basically just watch to see if what you did worked.
It's a weird combination of wholesale ordering\selling\purchasing that is pretty nuanced and requires more creativity and attention than your average run of the mill store.
Our customers are also our suppliers. And our wholesalers are also our customers. Its a constant flow of books flying all over the country and back again at key moments. at any given time you have 10 stores fighting over one used copy of a book.

er. sorry.
