By the way, the Milton Bradley article includes a link to this mindblowing story.

Wow. Last week on a local radio show on ESPN AM1000 Kenny Williams was interviewed and asked about Garland's contract negotations. Williams essentially said "We don't expect him to be here next year," though he hinted that it was because the way the market was/is moving, and that the Sox would never be able to afford him.
There are crispy fries waiting to come out of your oven: you just have to make them and put them there.

My initial thoughts:

-Milton Bradley, by himself, will bring more people to Oakland Athletics games. The sports fans of Oakland, Italia will appreciate and embrace Milton Bradley (and not for all the right reasons).

-Starting with their cud-chewing manager, the Oakland Athletics are, for the most part, a flat, passive, emotionless team. Milton Bradley is going to change that.

-The Athletics have one too many outfielders now. Look for at least one more trade in the near future.

-Antonio Perez is a nice little backup infielder.

-Spouse abusers are scum.

That's it for now.

have you ever known mr. beane to make a bad deal? i mean, his team pereneally achieves better than any expects them to, and the man has a serious eye for talent.

look at the mulder for harden trade, for example. mulder, as it turns out, can't pitch in a big game to save his life, and harden is becoming a proven ace, who will clearly handle zito's role when he's traded--presumably for some young arm that's going to turn out to be just as good if not better.

simply put, the dude knows his shit.

Slowriot, you have put one on a tee for me. I just don't have the appropriate time to give it the John Daly-style rip it deserves.

So I'm just going to answer "Yes" to your question.

Mark Mulder was traded for Dan Har(no d here)en, Kiko Calero, and Daric Barton. This was an excellent trade.

Tim Hudson was traded for Charles Thomas, Juan Cruz, and Dan Meyer. This was also an excellent trade.

Milton Bradley and Antonio Perez were traded for minor leaguer Andre Either. Andre Either is a good prospect, but he's 23 and still in AA ball. I'd say that Andre Either's ceiling as a player is about Milton Bradley's skill and production level. I think this trade was good.

I keep hearing that the Athletics are keeping Barry Zito and adding Frank Thomas.

The Athletics appear to be pretty serious about these 2006 seasons!

aye, angus. my bad about har[d]en, i am easily confused by the names of people 3,000 miles away i don't get to SEE perform on a regular basis.

calero is a nice player with a good k/bb ratio and, considering i'm a mets fan, is probably a better MRF than anything we have.

charles thomas played half a season with the braves and looked good from what i saw... juan cruz, if that's the same guy who was on the cubs, throws hard but sucks? meyer i don't know.

you would know better than i, but for what it's worth i still think beane is one of the better gm's in baseball.
