A friend of mine raves about this guy, but I just can't bring myself to listen to a guy named Panda Bear who plays in a band called Animal Collective.

You should. He's more than decent.

I've listened to some of Animal Collective's early shit and I just can't stand it.

But some of the shit I heard off of "Feels" was good, so I dunno about these guys.

Gets me in the mood to buy crayons.

Which guy is Panda Bear in the Collective? I think I talked to him when I didnt know who they were. He had this Ipod setup; like his instrument was the ipod right? He had them run through all this stuff - like a mixer so he could blend signals and other effects. It was pretty amusing.

The collective are cool to see live. It helps to be close to them when you see them though, otherwise youll miss all the small details like the un-miced yelling or them just hitting things with drum sticks randomly.

I have only heard good things about his new album, but that last collective album was so bad. I hope its nowhere close to that.

i haven't heard the new full length. i wasn't wild about his other solo album, but i like the b side of that single mentioned in the opening post. sounds like brian wilson.
