Not sure what to make of it....

For me, Spiderman 2 and Unbreakable pretty-much covered the contemporary Hollywood super-hero angle succesfully. I can't see where else there is to go, Hollywood-wise...

I'll happily and pointlessly pre-judge it as CRAP.

saw it it the theater before some movie. It looked really shitty, but I do love the old john Williams score. It's nice.

Are we talking about the teaster trailer with only sparse glimpses of Superman and the Marlon Brando voiceover? (I can't get the above link to work on my mac.) If so, I'm going to judge the trailer alone as NOT CRAP. The movie may very well be CRAP, and i'm not putting a lot of faith into it (however, to be fair i love the Bryan Singer X-Men movies, and Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor is great casting, i think), but i think the teaser is really great. Using the Brando Jor-El speech from the first Superman movie is a great way to establish that this movie is a continuation of that series*, uh, somehow, and i just love the music.



*All indications are that this movie happens after Superman 2, and they're just retconning 3 and 4 as having never happened. Alas, poor Nuclear Man, we never knew ye.

THe trailer is executed perfectly. It includes all the symbols of Superman and shows them just briefly and austerely enough to build anticipation. It is crap only in that it will motivate you to see a movie that you know in your heart of hearts will be crap. Unfortunately, that is enough.
