Judging from the two tracks on the excellent Deep Six compilation, i'd have to go with not crap. I've been meaning to check out some more of their stuff.

Jack Endino is a good engineer too, on a side note.

'1000 smiling knuckles' was probably my most listened to record when I was in high school. I loved this band for a few years, really did. It's kinda funny to me how much Soundgarden got huge completely ripping them off over and over yet Skin Yard never went anywhere.
I listened to it a few weeks ago and it's not very good at all, it has not aged very well but for the time it was just great stuff. Still better than any Tad record (except '8 way santa' which is pretty good still)
Whenever I hear the word 'grunge' I think skin yard and shake my head.
I have to say not crap, but kinda crap.

Underrated band. Not spectacular, but very solid. Inside the Eye is a personal favorite.

This record store I used to live near had their entire CD catalogue, twice over, in the 92 cent bin. It was kind of sad, but that's the way it goes, I guess. One of those bands that was there in the beginning but never really made it.

The new Jack Endino solo album brought back good memories of Skin Yard.

does anyone have Deep Six who would be willing to post it to EAgmail?

Not crap, with a wf of 10.

I just received their first EP in the mail the other day, and it's pretty goddamn awful. 1000 Smiling Knuckles and Hallowed Ground are both pretty decent, but I can't say that I'm deeply in love with either. Both definitely have their moments.

Granted, your request is now pretty ancient, but I posted this--at least I think I did--in the Sendspace thread.

Get Fist Sized Chunks.
Any experience with Gruntruck? It's essentially like a Skin Yard album, in the way that Cutthroats 9 is essentially Unsane.
Man, I love Skin Yard.

Any chance you could add that to the sendspace page? It's the only one I don't own, other than the posthumous collection of odds and ends.

My brother owned the first Gruntruck record, and I thought it was so-so. I don't think he owns it anymore, so I can't really re-evaluate it. Oddly, the one time I saw Gruntruck, one of the opening bands was . . . Unsane!
