Zwan - The Number of The Beast (Iron Maiden)

that one's not on the album, is it? (in fact, i'm sure it's not-- how'd you hear it?)

personally, my favorite cover is an obvious one-- Black Flag's version of Louie-Louie with Dez Cadena "singing"

i think the best kind of covers are the ones where a band totally perverts the original song. i've played in a number of bands where the members insist on "not messing with good music", and covering songs exactly as they are, note-for-note. if anyone is ever in a band with such a person... do me a favor and hit them.
if i got lasik surgery on one eye, i could wear a monacle.

It´s the opening Track to the Movie "Spun". Billy Corgan put the music for this movie together. There is no O.S.T. available though. I think the track is also on the "Honestly" Single. If you would like to get it from me just write me a PM and i´ll make it available to you.
It´s such a fine line between stupid and clever.

I allways enjoyed the Cardigans versions of Black Sabbath tunes.
Robert Wyatts version of the Monkees "I'm A Believer" is exemplary.
All those Hendrix covers of Dylan tunes. Dylan said of them that "I may have wrote those tunes, but he made them".
Snoop Doggy Doggs cover af that Slick Rick tune is great.
All those Johnny Cash covers from his last records were usually pretty darn good.

I always have wished that Will Oldham/Palace would cover Gordon Lightfoots "Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald."

What are not good covers are those absolutly wretchid cover versions of JJ Cale tunes that Eric Clapton made his whole 70's career out of.
However, Lynyrd Skynyrds cover of JJ Cales "Call Me The Breeze" is good, so is Captain Beefhearts cover of Cale's "Same Old Blues".

Please, Rod Stewart and Bob Seger, stay out of the Tom Waits songbook.

The worst covers ever are anything P-Diddly Shit ever put his sorry rat semen encrusted hands on.

I luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv the Killmen's cover of Poptones. I haven't heard it in years though 'cause I lost the record and I don't think you can get it anymore. Oldham's cover of Winter Lady is pretty good too. Devo's Satisfaction. true
